There is nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend

Benefits of nature based play
Playing outside in nature can benefit your children in so many ways; intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically! Just being outside and surrounded by nature, children can experience an ever-changing and wild environment that stimulates all the senses.
Interacting with natural environments, children naturally think and question— thereby developing their inquisitive minds. Whether they are judging the distance between two rocks before jumping or considering the purpose of an insect, children are constantly thinking when they’re in nature. These experiences offer real, authentic learning like little else can.
Just being in nature can induce feelings of peace and wellness.
In nature, children can play solo or connect with one another, learn to share, and problem solve. Children will often collaborate to develop elaborate games and rules because there are no prescribed sets of instructions.
Often, when immersed in the nature, even rambunctious children may slow down, learn to focus on being gentle and even develop empathy when needing to console a friend.
A note on safety
It’s good to keep in mind that what’s good for kids is also good for parents. Don’t be afraid to join in. In fact, give it shot! I can also be fun for adults to try to cross a stream by stepping from rock to rock, or climbing a tree higher than you thought you could. It’s important to note that providing a balance of risk and safety is the adults job and providing some level of challenge allows children to learn new skills in a safe and rewarding way.
